AC and heating repair

When a system quits, the part that failed is usually only half the story. The other half is why it failed. A capacitor that burned out because the outdoor coil was packed with dirt will burn out again if the coil stays dirty. So we test the whole system while it runs, not just the part that stopped.

On every repair call we check four things under load: airflow, electrical, refrigerant, and controls. Then we tell you in plain words what failed, why it failed, and what it takes to fix it. You get clear options before any work starts, and you make the call.

Not every repair is worth doing. If putting more money into older equipment is a bad bet, we’ll say so, and we’ll also say when a repair is the smart move. Read more about how we diagnose and repair AC and heating.

  • AC running but not cooling the house
  • Heater blowing cold air or shutting off early
  • System that won’t start, or starts and stops
  • Breakers that trip, odd smells, or ice on the lines

When replacement makes more sense

Sometimes the honest answer is that a system has had its run. When that’s the case, the change gets planned with you, step by step.

  1. 01

    Evaluate

Condition, repair history, and fit for the house.

  2. 02

    Size it

Matched to your home’s actual load, not a chart.

  3. 03

    Options

Plain choices with the scope of each spelled out.

  4. 04

    Install

Clean lines, correct charge, airflow verified.

Velocity Care maintenance

The Velocity Care maintenance plan is how we keep your system honest between repairs. Two visits a year, one before cooling season and one before heating season, with a photo checklist so you can see what we saw. Here’s why regular maintenance matters.

With October here, the fall heating visit is next. If your heater hasn’t run since last winter, our fall checklist for switching from AC to heat walks through what to watch for.

  • A spring cooling visit and a fall heating visit, every year
  • Photo checklist with nameplates, filter size, and first-visit baselines
  • Member repair discounts
  • Priority scheduling during normal hours

Commercial work

Homes are most of what we do in The Woodlands. We’re also Class A licensed with no tonnage limits, so we service and replace rooftop units across Greater Houston. More on commercial HVAC in Houston.

How we work

Technician-led diagnosis

A technician sees how your system is actually running before anything gets recommended. Our techs don't rely on commission, so the customer always comes first.

Plain-language answers

What failed, why, and what the fix involves, explained the way you’d explain it to a neighbor.

Options before work starts

You see the choices and decide. Nothing gets done until you’ve said yes.

The Woodlands HVAC FAQ

Do you work in The Woodlands? You’re based in Tomball & Spring.

Yes. Velocity Air A/C & Heating is based in Tomball & Spring, Texas, and The Woodlands is part of the Greater Houston area we work in. We’re a family-owned, Class A licensed and insured contractor (TACLA153648C).

Which villages do you cover?

All eight: Alden Bridge, Cochran’s Crossing, College Park, Creekside Park, Grogan’s Mill, Indian Springs, Panther Creek and Sterling Ridge. We also work on homes around the Town Center and Research Forest districts. If you’re not sure about your street, call (832) 589-0813 and ask.

My AC runs but the house won’t cool. What do you check first?

We test the system while it’s running under load and look at airflow, electrical, refrigerant and controls. A dirty coil, a weak capacitor or a restricted return can all look like the same problem from inside the house. We find which one it is before anything gets replaced.

How do I know whether to repair or replace my AC?

We look at the system’s age, condition, repair history and whether it still fits the house, then give you a straight repair-or-replace answer. If another repair is a bad bet, we say so. The decision is always yours.

How often should my AC and heater be serviced, and do you offer a maintenance plan in The Woodlands?

Twice a year: once before cooling season and once before heating season. Velocity Care covers both, with a spring cooling visit, a fall heating visit, a photo checklist, member repair discounts and priority scheduling during normal hours.

Do you take emergency calls in The Woodlands?

Yes. We’re open 24 hours, Monday–Saturday, and closed Sunday. Call (832) 589-0813 and we’ll give you a realistic arrival window.
