Furnace Replacement in Tomball & Spring, TX

Most furnace problems are a repair. Some aren't. When the furnace is old, keeps breaking, or has a safety problem, putting more money into it stops making sense. We look at the whole system, tell you straight what we found, and show you your options before any work starts.

Signs it may be time to replace

No single sign settles it. These are the things that point toward replacement:

  • The furnace is older and in rough condition
  • It keeps needing repairs, and the bills keep adding up
  • A cracked heat exchanger or another safety concern
  • Uneven heat that repairs haven't fixed
  • A repair history that's getting longer every winter

Repair or replace? How we help you decide

We'll show you both options: what the repair would fix, and what a replacement would get you. If a repair makes sense, we'll say so. Our techs don't rely on commission, so the customer always comes first.

Sizing it right

A new furnace should be sized to your house, based on its heating load. We don't just copy the size of the old one. We also check the ductwork and airflow, because a good furnace on bad ducts still heats poorly.

Bigger isn't better. An oversized furnace heats the house too fast, shuts off, and starts again a few minutes later. That short cycling wears parts out and leaves rooms uneven.

What a furnace replacement includes

Every house is different, but the job generally goes like this:

  1. Assess the home, the ductwork and the old equipment
  2. Remove the old furnace
  3. Install the new furnace
  4. Connect the gas, venting and electrical
  5. Set up the thermostat
  6. Start it up and run safety checks

Furnace replacement FAQ

How do I know if my furnace needs to be replaced or just repaired?

If one part failed and the rest of the furnace is in good shape, repair it. Replacement starts to make sense when the furnace is old and needs a major repair, keeps needing repairs, or has a safety problem like a cracked heat exchanger. We show you both options and you decide.

What size furnace does my home need?

It depends on your house: its size, insulation, windows and ductwork. We size the new furnace to the home, not by copying whatever was there before. The old one may have been the wrong size from day one.

Should I replace my furnace with a heat pump?

Sometimes. It depends on your home, your ductwork and what you want from your bills and comfort. Our gas vs. electric heating article walks through the trade-offs, and we're happy to talk through it on a visit.
